Privacy Policy
What personal data is processed when you visit this website, buy Almirath, join the community or play the game — and what you can do about it. Short version: the game itself collects nothing about you, and the website only counts visits anonymously, without cookies.
Who we are
“Almirath”, “we” and “us” mean the developer of the Almirath game, who is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Questions and requests: support@almirathgame.com.
The game
Almirath has no accounts, no analytics and no telemetry. The game does not send us any data about you or how you play.
Your worlds, settings, characters, logs and crash reports are stored only on your computer, in the game’s data folder (macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Almirath; Windows: %APPDATA%\Almirath) and a copy of the latest log in your system’s temporary folder. Nothing is uploaded automatically. If you send us a log or crash report, we use it only to fix your problem.
Online play
Multiplayer connects players directly to each other. To make that work:
- Invite codes. When you host or join with a code, the game posts an encrypted announcement through public message brokers (broker.hivemq.com, broker.emqx.io). The message is encrypted with a key derived from your code, so the broker operators cannot read it, but like any internet server they see your IP address.
- Finding a connection. The game contacts public STUN servers run by Google and Cloudflare to learn your public IP address and port, and may ask your router (UPnP) to open a port.
- Other players. Players in your session can see your IP address, your character’s name and look, and what you do in the shared world.
- Relays. If a host sets up an optional relay server, whoever runs that relay sees the IP addresses of the players connected through it.
We don’t run these servers and don’t receive this data. Playing alone involves none of it.
This website
- Hosting. almirathgame.com runs on the Estage platform, which processes technical data (IP address, browser, pages requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Visit statistics. We count page views, time on page, scroll depth, clicks and page speed with Estage Insights. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and tells visits apart only by a hash that changes every day, so it cannot recognise you over time or across sites. We use no advertising trackers.
- Fonts and images. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and images from content delivery networks; your browser shares your IP address with those servers to fetch them.
- Seed Map. The map remembers which layers you switched on in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device; clearing your browser data removes it.
- Links. YouTube, Reddit and other sites we link to have their own privacy policies.
Purchases
Almirath is sold through Polar (Polar Software, Inc.), which acts as the reseller and merchant of record. When you buy, Polar and its payment processor Stripe collect your name, email, billing address and payment details under Polar’s own privacy policy.
We receive your name, email address, country and order details (edition, price, date, download access) so we can deliver the game and its updates, help you, process refunds and send Steam keys when they become available. We never see your full card number.
Community
The community at community.almirathgame.com runs on the Estage platform. If you create an account there, your email, username, profile and posts are processed to run the community, and what you post is visible to other members. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
When you write to us
We keep your messages and email address to answer you and to keep a history of your support requests.
Why we use your data
- To deliver what you bought and support you — performance of our contract with you.
- To keep the website working and secure and to see which pages are useful — our legitimate interests.
- To keep tax and accounting records — legal obligation.
We don’t sell personal data, don’t share it for targeted advertising and don’t make automated decisions about you that have legal effects.
Who we share it with
Polar and Stripe (payments), Estage (hosting, visit statistics, community), our email provider (support mail), and authorities when the law requires it. Some of these providers are based outside your country, including in the United States; where required, transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Order records — for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support emails — up to 3 years after your last message.
- Community account — until you delete it or ask us to.
- Visit statistics — kept only as anonymous totals.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent. Email support@almirathgame.com from the address you used with us; we answer within 30 days. In the EU and UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Almirath is made for adults (18+). We don’t knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has given us personal data, tell us and we will delete it.
Steam and other stores
If you get Almirath through Steam or another store, that store handles your data under its own policy. Steam features such as achievements and cloud saves are provided by Valve.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top and announce significant changes on this website. See also our Terms of Sale & Use.
